a slang pejorative for a person, commonly a woman, who is belligerent, unreasonable, malicious, a control freak, rudely intrusive or aggressive. When applied to a man, bitch is a derogatory term for a subordinate.
I’ve always found it interesting how “bitch” is used to describe a particular kind of rigid woman, yet, it’s definition does a complete 180 when used to describe a weak or submissive man. It’s amusing isn’t it? I understand where the negative stigma comes from though. Traditionally, society still wants their men to be emotionally constipated leaders, and their women to be on emotional laxatives, selflessly tending to the lives of others. Why else is the same term used just as negatively in complete opposite contexts, to make on gender feel small and weak, whilst attempting to make the other feel unlikeable and mean?
In case it wasn’t clear - I am a feminist, and this is a feminist blog. And just so we all understand each other…
